Molloy Island Kitchen Renovation – Small Holiday Home Kitchen Transformed Into a Functional Modern Space

Located on beautiful Molloy Island, this project involved completely reworking a small, dated holiday home kitchen that no longer suited the way the owners wanted to live and entertain.

The original kitchen was compact, closed in and lacking both storage and functionality. Limited bench space, ageing cabinetry and an inefficient layout made everyday use difficult, particularly for a home designed to accommodate family holidays and extended stays.

Our goal was to maximise every available millimetre of space while creating a kitchen that felt larger, brighter and far more practical without increasing the room size.

The new design completely transformed the layout, introducing full-height cabinetry, additional storage solutions and significantly improved workflow throughout the kitchen.

A standout feature of the renovation is the custom full-height pull-out pantry system, providing exceptional storage capacity while maintaining easy access to everyday items. By incorporating modern storage hardware and carefully planned cabinetry, we were able to dramatically increase usable storage compared to the original kitchen.

The kitchen features a clean two-tone finish combining warm timber-look overhead cabinetry with crisp white lower cabinets and stone-look benchtops. This combination adds warmth and texture while keeping the space bright and open.

To maximise functionality, the design includes integrated appliance zones, a dedicated microwave recess, concealed bin storage, large drawer banks and improved preparation areas. Every cabinet was designed with purpose, ensuring the compact footprint works as efficiently as possible.

The updated splashback, modern appliances and streamlined finishes bring the entire space into the present day while maintaining a relaxed feel that suits the character of a holiday home.

The finished result is a kitchen that feels significantly larger, cleaner and more functional than the original space. What was once a dated and pokey kitchen has been transformed into a highly practical modern kitchen designed to make the most of compact living.
